Why bring in more activities and services?

In a recent Government report into the first pilot Extended Schools they found:

"Involvement in extended activities, properly managed, is entirely compatible with the school maintaining high standards in its 'core business' of raising pupil attainment.

Extended schools may also have a positive impact on the cultures of students and their communities, particularly in terms of how learning is viewed."
